Well it has been a busy old year for City Lights so far and now with the nights drawing in and those woolen jumpers coming out of hiding, we're looking forward to being the Christmas Party Band for lots of you lovely people up and down the country.
We have played at some beautiful venues this year so far, performing a huge repertoire of songs however, there are some in particular that we feel make the day, unforgettable. Whether it is a wedding, birthday party or special occasion, we can’t help but notice, it’s these songs that go down a storm.
So we thought we’d give you guys a little taster of our top 5 floorfillers. These all stick out for one main reason, why? They all fit any age group. Whether it be the bridesmaid's 7 year old daughter, the father of the bride getting his groove on or the birthday girl's grandparents dancing their hearts out. Lets just say the dancefloor doesn’t stay empty for very long. Here’s our top 5.
1. Billie Jean – Michael Jackson
When that distinctive drum and bass groove comes in, every crowd we’ve played for know who this is straightaway. They all gather around and the guys and girls are making sure those moonwalks are on point. It’s an 80’s classic from the late King of Pop himself. Not only do we get a great reaction from the guests, everyone comes together and there is a vibrant energy from the start till the very end.
2. Mr Brightside – The Killers
When the guitar intro begins, we have seen at times the men are taking their ties off and rocking a remarkable headband look. We go from a few people popping up here and there to the whole party joining in with us. It’s that end of the night feel good rock anthem where you’ve had a tipple or two. The party all sing at the top of their lungs without a care in the world.
3. All Night Long – Lionel Richie
This one is a right old crowd pleaser. The room automatically lights up from the word- go, its pure bliss! This song exudes positivity, it really shows and brings everyone together. With that sing along chant, the laid back feel of the song, we all throw our troubles away and go all out; it’s a timeless party classic.
4. Shut Up And Dance – Walk The Moon
By far, one of our very favourites to perform as a band, its fresh; yet, everyone can’t help but dance along as it says so in the title, no subtlety there. The air guitars come out swiftly and all the seats are empty. A feel good pop anthem that gets everyone on their feet, a must have for any party.
5. Uptown Funk – Bruno Mars feat. Mark Ronson
The audience aren’t quite ready for us to stop yet, so what do we do? We want that last number to get the whole family and friends up for one last time. With this song especially, we see the couples sharing their last dance of the night, the girls singing along with their champagne glasses in the air and that one guy who takes over the entire dance floor. It’s the song of the night.
So thats it from us this time, stay tuned for more updates to come and in the mean time, if you would like to hear these floor fillers performed live for you, just get in contact and book City Lights today!
Until next time...
